ISIT autumn 2010
ISIT’s mission to keep the work of Keith Johnstone alive in improvised theatre
The International School of Improvised Theatre, is proud to present three new improvised theatre workshops.
Improvised Theatre Program 2010-11
6-10 September 2010: Spontaneity and Story
1-5 November: Character and Story
Spring 2011 (dates TBC): Body-Mask as Character
The workshops will be organised by, and held at Odsherred Teater Skole in Nykøbing Sjælland, Denmark. Visit www.nyscenekunst.dk for more information.
Spontaneity and Story
Working with spontaneity games to activate the creative self, we will develop frameworks to inspire storytelling within improvised theatre and reconnect with the joy of obvious, relevant stories.
Character and Story
Drawing on a variety of approaches, we will create characters who have their own story to tell. Taking inspiration from Commedia Dell’Arte, we will then create a range of scenes for these characters to improvise within.
Body-Mask as Character
Taking inspiration from Keith Johnstone’s trance mask work and physical theatre, we will explore the concept of bodymask. We will experiment with a series of exercises to allow the body to transform into a form of mask, with its own life, nature and character. The perfect warm-up for Steve Jarand’s Spring Mask Workshop.
