DIFI’s mission is to keep the work of Keith Johnstone alive in improvised theatre
Working with spontaneity games to activate the creative self, we will develop frameworks to inspire storytelling within improvised theatre and reconnect with the joy of obvious, relevant stories.
Drawing on a variety of approaches, we will create characters who have their own story to tell. Taking inspiration from Commedia Dell’Arte, we will then create a range of scenes for these characters to improvise within.
Taking inspiration from trance-mask work and physical theatre, we will explore the concept of bodymask. We will experiment with a series of exercises to allow the body to transform into a form of mask, with its own life, nature and character. The perfect warm-up for Steve Jarand’s Spring Mask Workshop.
